Model · X-ray baggage scanner
The reference model of the TS series: a 650 × 500 mm tunnel with 43 mm steel penetration, a 180 kg conveyor load and a 500,000-image archive, built for airport and customs hand luggage, courthouse entrances, hotel delivery bays and freight counters.

The configuration the rest of the series is measured against.
The TS-6550 is the configuration we use as the reference point for the whole X-ray series, because its specification sheet answers most of the questions buyers ask: a 650 × 500 mm tunnel accepts hand luggage and standard cartons, penetration of 43 mm of steel covers dense loads, and a conveyor rated to 180 kg handles a loaded tray without strain.
Imaging uses a Spellman generator at 100–160 kV and 0.4–1.2 mA, beaming downward at 80 degrees onto a Hamamatsu L-shaped photodiode array. Images display at 1024 × 768 with material discrimination — organic in orange, inorganic in blue, mixed materials in green — and operators can magnify a region up to 128× and switch between high and low energy imaging without re-scanning the item.
The archive holds 500,000 images in real time, and the unit runs a 100% duty cycle from an oil-cooled generator, which is what allows it to stay on through a full shift rather than being cycled. Radiation leakage is under 0.33 µGy/h and the configuration is guaranteed safe for ISO 1600 film.

The functions behind the numbers on the datasheet.
Entrances where hand luggage, cartons and dense loads arrive at the same lane.
Delivery cartons that do not fit a compact tunnel, screened at the goods-in door.
Cartons and bulk supplies screened with organic material discrimination.
Consolidated boxes and checked baggage handled at 180 kg conveyor rating.
Where event traffic includes luggage and equipment cases as well as day bags.
Tunnel size is the main difference: 650 × 500 mm against 500 × 300 mm, with a 180 kg conveyor rating against 50 kg, and 43 mm steel penetration against 12 mm. The TS-6550 handles cartons, dense loads and hand luggage; the TS-5030A is the entrance and mailroom unit.
Single-view models produce one image per scan. Dual-view variants use two generator and detector sets at different angles, producing two images in a single pass so operators can judge object depth, at a higher price. It reduces re-scans in high-throughput lanes and is unnecessary where volumes are modest.
Yes. Standard sizes run from 500 × 300 mm to 1500 × 1800 mm — including 1000 × 800 mm and 1000 × 1000 mm for freight — and custom tunnel sizes are built on request; the largest custom tunnel built to date is 1850 × 1550 mm. The full range is listed on the X-ray baggage scanner page.
The reference configuration is guaranteed safe for ISO 1600 film and screening does not damage electronics. If you screen photographic film or magnetic media regularly, tell us and we will confirm the applicable limits.
No. The unit is freestanding and is normally placed with the monitor at the discharge end. A remote viewing position is possible if you prefer to separate the operator from the checkpoint.
